Mark's nomination story

Mark has been in and out of hostels and care for most of his life. He was a member of Liverpool Harriers athletics club in his younger days before he got into problems which led him to become homeless. He changed his life around in the past few years through sport when he played in a Homeless football tournament which gave him the impetus to become involved in the Homeless Games as an athlete.

In 2010 he was top athlete in the games, a title he held on to in 2011 as well as helping out as a volunteer when he wasn't competing.

Mark is now a role model for other homeless people and delivers talks to groups at hostels reliving his journey, how sport has transformed his outlook on life and how he wants to become a qualified coach.

Mark is an individual who has transformed his own life as well as helping others to transform their life through the power of sport.

This once in a life time opportunity would make such a huge difference to Mark and the communities he represents. We are proud to nominate Mark as the torch bearer nominee.
