mark hortron is a member of the ballinderry river enhancement association (BREA) . Which is a charity set up to improve the quailty of the river for anglers walkers canoeist and any other groups interested in hte river.
Four years ago mark started a project called RIPPLE( river involving people place @ leading by example ).Through his energy and conmitmennt this project has gone from strength to strength bringing together people from all walks of life of all ages and backrounds with one overall aim which is to make our river a healthier place for wildlife and people to enjoy.
The ripple project started with public meetings in our large river catchment area this produced a list of 'wishes 'that local people wanted to happen on the river these where then sorted and a champion picked to lead each one and Mark as cordinator for the whole project . Mark has for four years with unending patience lead this group of volunteers to become an example to many river trusts across the uk and abroad . With some very inovative ideas and personal drive he has produced an unbelievable array of groups working on the river. CURE clean up your river enviroment an multi award winning group arranging clean up days and bird /bat box placing River warriors a school based team who have adopted a stretch of river to meantain ,anglers monitoring 24 volunteers checking fly life monthly and many more
