Mark's nomination story

Mark is an outstanding member of the young community. From a very early age he has always wanted to be involved with local organisations and although always being the youngest in the class he has striven to be the best. Working through Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and then onto Army cadets. He has done 10 tors three times, the Nijmegen Marches twice, and completed Duke of Edinborough awards in Bronze Silver and Gold. His final rank was cadet RSM which covered the whole of Somerset and was also Lord Lieutenant's cadet and escorted Prince Charles and Camilla. He has a passion for History particularly the two world wars and represented the cadets at the Albert Hall and Cenotaph Remembrance services as well as local services as well.

He is now a very proud member of the Royal Engineers and received the award for top Royal Engineer and top Carpenter and Joiner in his trade. At present he is undertaking the very gruelling All Arms Commando Course for the ultimate prize of the much coveted green beret. This lad is a fine example of youth today and he fully deserves the chance to show his pride and passion.
