I would like to nominate Marion Childs as a torch bearer in the London 2012 Olympic Games. Marion is the soul and drive behind Southam Gymnastics Club with well over a 100 gymnasts participating from 4 to 16 years old. Marion coaching career began as a parent over 15 years ago when faced with the closure of the club decided to step up and get qualified as a coach and take over organisation of the club. Marion is a complete volunteer, - giving well over 7 hrs a week as a coach, chairperson, competitions organiser, health and safety officer together with balancing a full time job as a part of the Warwickshire Early Years Team. She also volunteers with Leamington Athletics club and has been Women's Team Manager for the Midland County Senior League for the last 5 years. working with young people is her life. Marion has coached my daughter Sophie for over 5 years and has played a major part in her development, encouraging her to try her best, spending time listening to her needs, building her confidence and her ability. She is someone Sophie trusts and looks up to. Marion inspires children to believe in themselves. She is an extremely kind and caring person who has time for everyone. Marion truly does make a difference in our community and is more than worthy of being given the honour of holding the torch and having her moment to shine.
