(Wolseley Plc) Margaret Leahy wanted to give something back to the armed forces following an 'army life' and has been supporting the Royal British Legion, Women's Section, (RBLWS) for over 22 years. Due to a reduction in membership, teh RBLWS anticipated closing its local branch, but it as been kept alive for many years thorough Margaret's unequivocal commitment, which included taking on three committee posts. Through wholly self-organised fundraising events such as cake sakes, raffles, rattling poppy charity tins on petrol forecourts and encouraging business to provide prizes as no cost, Markegret helps to keep the local RBLWS institute running. Monies raised for the Benevolend Fund, by this branch of 15 members, routinely exceeds expectations. With RBL colleagues, over £13,000 was collected locally for the 2010 Poppy Appeal. Margaret also provides a free taxi service for members of the local community. A truly remarkable lady!
