Margaret Harries

Maggie set up her own youth club with 8 local children and now has over 80 regular attendees. The club provides a safe social environment where children & young adults can socialise with their friends. Maggie received an MBE in 1995 for servicesto the youth club. Maggie has taught for 25yrs in a special school now specialising in children with high level autism. Maggies mission in life is to keep these children out of residential provision by helping their parents manage their needs at home aswell as in school. Maggie worked in Romania over a 5yr period with children with a multitude of special needs, she set up a course similar to British NVQ child care, she still raises money to pay for teachers out in Romania. Maggie was originally a PE teacher & spent her life with children & sport. For many, the youth club is the only time that they are in social setting without their parents or carers.
