Margaret has inspired me and many others in many ways. Margaret is not one to blow her own trumpet. She climbed Ben Nevis to raise money for Speech Matters. Margaret travelled on her own and met up and joined in with others from different parts of the UK. She puts all her efforts into anything she does from raising money to entertaining her 3 close friends at her home where at some point in our lives have stayed for refuge when our personal lives were in turmoil. Margaret is inspirational. She makes a real difference to her local community. Joined Special Olympics, National Games Northern Ireland in 2006 as Catering Assistant. Margaret said "Most fantastic and unforgettable experience" Margaret became Volunteer for Team Ireland 2007 to support Athletes who had qualified for Special Olympics World Games in Shanghai. Margaret raised £5,000 for this event by organising table quizes, car boot sales, stalls. Tescos granted her a collection day for this Special Olympics. 2008/2009 Margaret joined local Pin Pals Special Olympics Club (Ten Pin Bowling). 2010/2011 Margaret became a Coach for the Club where she is respected by members In between Margaret has been a volunteer for Regional Games in Letterkenny 2009 and attended the Ireland Games in Limerick in 2010 Margaret raised c£3,000 and is at present with 200 other Irish volunteers to support the Athletes who have qualified for the Special Olympics World Games in Athens June 2011.
