Jean Bishop

Jean is well known in the city of Kingston upon Hull as the ' Bee Lady of Hull' who has stood in the main two shopping centres in her 'bee' outfit collecting on behalf of latterly AGE CONCERN now known as AGE UK. She collects every other Friday and over the years has collected over £86,000 for the age charity. Jean has visited Buckingham Palace to meet Her Majesty the Queen on behalf of the voluntary work that she has done. A facebook page was created for her under the title, ' THE BEE LADY OF HULL' this site has received over 7000 visits from around the world. Jean is an inspiration to both old and young and in 2012 she will be the ripe old age of 90years. In her Bee outfit she is one of the most well known ladies in Hull City Centre and both young and old stop to support her charity and have a chat, she was recently in the local paper along with Amy Johnson and Maureen Lipman as one of the three female icons of Hull. Jeans aim is to collect the sum of £100,000 whilst she is fit enough. This incredible lady would be a perfect carrier of the flame showing that a strong determination and a will to succeed can be achieved by anyone no matter what age you are!
