Mandi's nomination story

Mandi, my wife was diagnosed with malignant melanoma in 2009 as a result of using sunbeds. This is the most aggresive cancer and could still claim her life. Her melanoma was on her face and having it removed has left her with a huge facial scar. She has taken it upon herself to tour schools and colleges in our area to warn young people of the dangers. She funds this herself and does it because she wants to make a difference and save Lifes. She is now an ambassador for cancer research and campaigns relentlessly. She has been on the news and in various magazines which is so hard for her due to her facial scar but she never complains because she knows it's helping others. She is an inspiration to so many who know her and has turned a negative into a positive( her words). She started the race for life in Durham last year and had to speak infront of 3,000 people and we were all so proud of her. She also did a parachute jump to raise funds for cancer charity, even though she is scared of heights. She is a wondeful wife and mother and an inspiration to so many,we are all so proud of her and to have the honour of carrying the torch would mean so much to her and would be a way of recognising and appreciating all that she does knowing her cancer could still return and claim her life.
