Malcolm gives his time freely and enjoys being able to help his community. Currently Malcolm supports a children's contact centre helping the parent to interact with the child in an appropriate manner. He is also undertaking a project that will see a church vestry turned into a community centre for the village. The plans there are for a mother and toddler group, luncheon club, informal learning, coffee mornings and youth club. Malcolm has been instrumental in developing this project for the community of CWM. Malcolm had raised nearly £20,000 for this project ensuring the project's success. Malcolm has been a volunteer at the church for over 50 years and in the 70s he ran Ebbw vale training corps for over 20 years being commanding officer for 6. He has always worked with young people and at present volunteers on the governing body of two primary schools. Malcolm was an council employee for 20 years as the truanting officer. Malcolm helped set up the `Young Cares Project` in Blaenau Gwent . He is a Justice of the Peace who specialised in the work of the Gwent Family Court and in fact was chairman of the court for 9 years. Malcolm has always gone that step further to help people and I cannot put into words the positive impact he has had on the people he has met.
