Luke's nomination story

Luke makes friends very quickly and is a popular member of his school. Although he is unable to speak he communicates very effectively with his eyes and his smile is infectious and constant. He shows remarkable strength of character and this can be seen on a daily basis for example in his determination to reach out towards an object he wants or a person, or the immense efforts he makes when trying to press a switch to communicate. Luke enjoys taking part in physical activities with others and particularly likes the sense of freedom of movement that he experiences when he is out of his wheelchair and in the hydrotheraphy pool. Luke`s central place within a large supportive family is a testament to his ability to draw people together. This same quality can be seen at school when he is with his friends and staff team.
