Luke Hillson

Luke is inspirational, both as a sportsman, coach, mentor, role-model and friend. Living in Leamington Spa, he has established two sports clubs for the local community, a badminton club aimed at all ages and standards and an Ultimate Frisbee club, which also welcomes all new members with open arms. His enthusiasm for sport is second to none, and his motivation to get others into sport and enjoying themselves is inspirational. His passion is reaching out to those that might not otherwise consider themselves 'sporty' or athletic, but with his energy, friendlyness and often cheekyness(!) he manages to encourage all walks of life to get involved, often trying sports they've not player or even heard of before. Luke created and coaches The Leamington Lemmings Ultimate Frisbee Club, which is now one of the largest established Ultimate clubs in the UK. It has Mens, Womens and Mixed teams, and is currently forming a Juniors team. Some members of the team now represent Great Britain. Yet everyone one, regardless of age or ability are all welcomed and encouraged to get involved, playing at tournaments across the country and Europe! The Leamington Badminton Club is a similar story, there weren't any badminton clubs in the area that welcomed beginners. Luke thought that 'everyone's got to start somewhere!', so created LBC whereby he loaned out his own racquets and equipment to enable those who hadn't played before a chance to try the sport and get active!
