Lloyds TSB, proud Presenting Partner of the London 2012 Olympic Torch Relay, has selected pupils from St Maurice School to be Olympic Torchbearers as part of the Flame Followers programme. . . St Maurice School have used the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games to raise awareness of the Olympic values. As a Sports Comprehensive, the London 2012 Games provides a great opportunity to strive for excellence. There is a belief within the school that such opportunities will encourage increased participation in whole school projects, and generate an understanding that although some pupils will be able to showcase their practical talents in participation in Olympic and non Olympic activities, there is also scope for pupils to showcase other talents. St Maurice also acknowledge there is more to the Olympics than sport, which is why we are piloting an Olympic values project within the school, in which we can emphasize the importance of respect and consideration for others, and the importance of working together in creating links with other schools. We firmly believe in using Sport and the Olympic theme to instil in young people a culture of Health and Wellbeing, wider opportunities within sport and better all round habits.
