(ELIZABETH Wrote) "Mr. Lou Gallo has been my history teacher all four years of my high school career. To say that he has made me a better student would be an understatement. Mr. Gallo has made an impact on the lives of so many students at West High School. He dedicates many hours out of his day to be our sponsor for the Youth in Government programs, which we look forward to every year, and he also takes us to Boston to attend Harvard Model Congress. Without him, we as students would never have the opportunities to attend these conferences. Teaching some of the toughest courses, including AP US HIstory and AP European History, he helps us learn in a way that no other teacher does, and it shines through his high AP scores every year. Mr. Gallo has won numerous awards such as West High Teacher of the Year (2003), East TN Teacher of the Year (2007-08), Knox County Teacher of the Year (2007-08), and Milken National Educator Award(2003-04). He was invited to attend the Panasonic Cultural Exchange Program to chaperone four students who would spend 10 days in Japan. Mr. Gallo is without a doubt the most incredible teacher I have ever had the opportunity to learn from. He has allowed me to learn in ways I never thought I would be able to because he pushed me to do better in class. I have also had the experience of spending time with Mr. Gallo outside of the classroom as I was able to travel to Italy and Greece with him on a school trip and see what a wonderful person he is all around.By signing this document, I state to my knowledge that accomplishments detailed herein are accurate and true."
