Lisa achieved her Gold Duke of Edinburgh Award in 2010. She still helps out at her local group. Despite a fear of heights and water, Lisa took part in rock climbing, abseiling, hill walking, kayaking and swimming. Lisa has also helped in clean-ups and litter picks in the community. Last year she was chosen as a Duke of Edinburgh's Award Ambassador for Scotland. This involves her travelling around Scotland sharing her experiences. Last month she was chosen to go to Kenya in September to represent Scotland at the International Award Conference. She has also worked on a voluntary basis for a local radio station and presented her own radio show. Her determination, commitment, hard work, increased confidence, voluntary work in her local community and acting as a positive ambassador for her local area all contributed to her recently winning the inaugural North Ayrshire Young Citizen of the Year.
