I first met Denis over 30 years ago. He was playing squash for a local club at the time, an active member of a diving club and did the odd bit of cycling! Previously he had played gaelic football, hurling and basketball - all at a very high standard. What inspired me most about Denis was his energy and the work- family life balance he had created - bringing up 3 wonderful children, holding down senior roles in the hotel and catering industry and still finding time for his beloved sports! A role model! Denis has combined his love of sport with a desire to put something back into the community in which he lives. Charity cycle rides all over the world - S.Africa, US, Canada, Ireland and England have raised £65,000 for various charities. He inspired me to do the London to Brighton cucle ride - twice! He is currently Captain of the N.Ireland Hotels and Caterers Golfing Society and in Denis's own words - 'We don't stop playing because we are old: we get old because we stop playing'. On that basis, Denis will never be old!
