Dedicated to helping his community, Les has given up his own time for over 25 years to support the local school. Firstly joining the HSA of the school during the time his children attended, Les chaired the committee for a number of years raising funds and organising events to support and promote the school. He then joined the governing body, where he has undertaken a number of roles including vice chair and his current position of chair. Les works tirelessly for the school and during his time as governor Northfield school achieved Sports Specialism status. Linked to this Les chaired the committee responsible for overseeing the creation of a new "Sports Drome" facility and ensuring that the school could meet the £100,000 it was required to contribute. Created with the aid of funding from Sport England and the football association, the Sports Drome provides sports facilities for the school and local community. Recently he has spent many hours working with the school to successfully manage the incorporation of another local school to bring it from special measures to an OFSTED status of good with outstanding features within eighteen months. A keen runner, Les has supported the Rainbow trust charity for many years and has completed 10 Great North Runs, raising in excess of £5,000 for the charity.
