Lesley Simpson

I am nominating my Mum to be a torchbearer as she has spent most of her life helping others. She was a Samaritan for years, she has raised thousands of pounds for charity, from coffee mornings to abseiling down the edinburgh railway bridge to walking the great wall of China, Last year she helped start a nursery in Cambodia and she currently volunteers at Rachel house, a hospice for terminally ill children. She always thinks of others over herself and makes me want to strive to be a better person. She inspires all those around her. Dealing with the onset of Rheumatoid arthritis hasn't slowed her down at all, if anything she is more determined to help others and do as much as she can to raise money for charities such as breast cancer and heart disease. She is my hero and has made such a difference in so many peoples lives that she deserves a chance to shine as bright as the Olympic Torch.
