Leon's nomination story

The first day Leon, aged 12, walked into his local wrestling gym in Bristol his coach knew that Leon had the natural strength that befits a good wrestler. Though money was hard to come by friends, parents and his club supported Leon to attend national competitions and at his first international competition in Finland Leon knew he wanted to make wrestling part of his life. He upped his schedule from 3 days to 5 days per week and very soon he was noticed by the National Coach who encouraged Leon, at the age of 18, base himself at the Wrestling Academy in Manchester. Leon's first major tournament medal was won at the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi. His dreams are to qualify outright for the 2012 Olympics so that his mum can be proud of him. Leon is quiet and unassuming with a passion for the sport he loves.
