Leon's nomination story

Leon has spent the last 4 years coaching basketball on Thursday lunchtimes and the last 2 years on a Wednesday morning. . This will be the second year that Leon has been chosen to be a Gold Young Ambassador for Wales and for Ysgol Syr Thomas Jones. He has promoted sport and the London 2012 Olympics throughout his school, and he has made a presentation to over 60 physical education teachers from Anglesey, Gwynedd and Conwy about himself in sport, and his achievements, promoting sport and the Young Ambassador movement in Wales. The aim of his presentation was to increase the teachers` awareness of the important roles of Young Ambassadors and to give them an idea of prowess that one Young Ambassador can achieve.. He has been a part of the Air Training Corps for the last 4 years, spending 5 hours a week in his squadron. He is currently one of two flight sergeants at the squadron in Menai Bridge regularly maintaining the upkeep of the squadron, leading sports sessions every fortnight and together wtih the other flight sergeant ensuring the rest of the squadron maximise their experience as cadets.. He has volunteered at a disabled swimming event day, arranged and run a mini-Olympics event, and in January 2011 as a one of 3 Gold Ambassadors on Anglesey, he inducted 10 Silver Ambassadors helping them understand what newly appointed roles they had been given as Young Ambassadors and their importance in promoting sports in their schools and on Anglesey.
