Lee's nomination story

Lee has been my friend for many years & is one of the most genuine, hardworking and caring people I know. For the past 8 years Lee has not only worked full time, many weeks working 50 - 60 hours but he is also with his wife a foster carer who during the last 8 years has looked after 25 children, giving all of these children wonderful support, stability & care. Many of these children come into Lees care with wide ranges of problems from disabilities to behavioural issues, all are treated with the same cheerful, supportive and balanced outlook with many of the children leaving his care better equipped for the next stage of their life. Watching the real impact good carers can have on these young people in their care inspired my wife and I to also become foster carers 4 years ago, a decision we have not regretted! In addition to his full time job and fostering Lee is also a parent Governor at a local primary school, a position he has held for 3 years playing an important role in the running of the current school and the ongoing construction a new purpose built school. Most peoples weekends are a time to relax, Lees not so! One of the foster children plays ice hockey and Lee will take him to games as far away as Nottingham & Newcastle to play. His own children both play netball with Lees car often acting as team transport to venues as varied as Manchester and Cardiff. It has been a privilege to write this application as Lee is not only a great friend but a wonderful role model.
