Leanne's nomination story

Leanne suffers from CYSTIC FIBROSIS a life threatening disease which affects the vital organs - lungs and pancreas. She takes 40 tablets a day, nebulizers, insulin and twice daily physio. Every 2-3 months she is admitted to hospital for IV antibiotics and also does home IV's. In October 2010 she raised £12,518.97 by climbing Kilimanjaro for CF Research. She did this not just for herself but for all CF's so that a cure may be found. It took her a year of hard campaigning to raise enough money to enable her to take part let alone the enormous time and effort to become fit! This is even more incredible as Leanne also has diabetes. After completing the climb Leanne had to be carried down as she had turned blue and was then admitted to hospital for 2 weeks IV antibiotics. Others she went with who had no medical problems didn't all make it. In the same year (2010) she also took part in the 83 mile Isle of Man Parish Walk and the End to End Walk all for charity. She is planning to take part again in the 2011 Parish Walk. Leanne never ceases to amaze me in her cheerful, determination and enthusiasm to live life to the full! She is an inspiration to others. She manages a full time job, lives independently, goes to the gym 3 times a week and keeps a horse. She is always willing to lend a hand with fundraising and offer advice to younger CF's Leanne is always giving to other, it would be nice for her to receive this honour of a once in a life time experience.
