Lauren Reeder is a teaching assistant at our school. She is an inspirational and dedicated person! I think she should get a chance to carry the torch. She is very brave and independent and she is always there for everybody, whether we have fallen over and grazed our knee or just have friend troubles. After working with us all week she spends most weekends looking after a child with special needs to give the girl's mum and dad a rest for a few hours. Miss Reeder went to a slimming club because one day she decided that she wanted to do a parachute jump to raise money for a charity and she weighed too much. The charity that she chose gives respite care to help parents of disabled children and give them a break. She lost SEVEN STONE! Early one Sunday morning she was driving to the swimming pool when her car skidded on some ice and flipped over. She only managed to get out because she lost all that weight. When she did her parachute jump she raised over £700! She says she was terrified but we think she is a heroine!!!! Report by Madeleine Power (aged 11 next week!)I lost 96 lb, just under seven stone.
