Laura's nomination story

laura has helped people of all ages nationally and locally. Laura worked in South Africa as a volunteer. This involved working on a game reserve and helping people in the local community. Not only did she work on protecting endangered specied such as black rhino she educated youngsters who did not have the opportunity to go to school. This involved going into local communities and bringing children to a base to learn. Laura also collected donations such as pens and pencils to take to local schools. She visited clinics which where over ran with people needing help. Laura interacted daily with people suffering from HIV and AIDS.

When Laura returned back from Africa she decided to go into teaching to educate youngsters in this country and decided to stay in her local area where she was brought up and give back to her local community. Laura is now a well practitioned teacher who specialises in students with special educational needs. This includes helping students with any ability to strive and gain their full potential. Most recently she has started taking stuednts on trips giving pupils the opportunity to visit areas which they may never get the chance to visit again. She tries to find funding so pupils of any background can have the experience of a lifetime.

Laura is a brilliant person who would love and deserves the opportunity to carry our torch and represent our country.
