Laura teaches physical education at St. Dominic's Grammar and goes over and above the call of duty. Through her efforts over 150 teenage girls take part in after school sport each week and she works tirelessly to encourage them to go on and join sports clubs in their local community. Laura has set up Gaelic Football teams at the school coaching the U16 & U19 girls to Ulster Schools Cup finals. She leads the schools dance project and a fitness for sport club which has enthused over 50 pupils, teachers and parents to run in the "Between the Bridges" and the Belfast City Marathon. She has recently taken the lead the SportNI's Active8 programme with the aim of increasing participation in sport and/or physical activity within their school, PE, extra curricular clubs and of pupils within community sports clubs. The schools Activ8 team will also look towards planning a festival event to celebrate the build up to the London 2012 Olympic Games.
