Laura's nomination story

Laura has been involved with the Muscular Dystrophy Campaign for over six years, after she was diagnosed with a muscle-wasting disease aged eight. Since then she has worked tirelessly in raising awareness of these conditions, to campaign for more specialist support for patients and to generate vital funding for research. Laura has thrown herself into volunteering, by doing everything from co-ordinating charity days at her school, to taking on fundraising challenges. Despite mobility issues due to her condition, she has completed two gruelling 10km walks to raise funds. In total her hard work has generated £25,000 for the charity. Not content with fundraising alone, Laura has been a valuable voice for disabled people in the media, raising awareness through TV, radio and newspaper interviews. Laura is not only an inspiration to me, but to many other volunteers and supporters of the Muscular Dystrophy Campaign.
