Lance 's nomination story

Lance saved the life of a girl by pulling her from a burning car and received the Royal Humane society award for bravery. He was the National winner of the BBC Sports Personality of the Year Unsung Hero for coaching sports to disabled and disadvantaged children for over 30 years. He was awarded The Big Society Award by the Prime minister at number 10 for his contribution setting up projects to help disabled, ex-offenders, and the long term unemployed back to work in communities of England by recycling unwanted sportswear and equipment.

He has set up a Charity called Sports Traider/ BounceBack that helps youngsters from disadvantaged backgrounds and the disabled to access sporting opportunities here in the UK breaking down all barriers by providing any sportswear and equipment free, to creating a project in a deprived area where young people are bored or simply providing them a way to get there. He gets adults and youngsters to donate what they have grown out of or sports equipment they don't use anymore,also persuading major Sports brands to give him their old stock which would normally be put into Landfill. His Sports Into School Project was given the Olympic Inspired Mark for its legacy of getting more kids to participate in sport by doing Sports Traider micros and he is also part of the Fields in Trust project.
