Carrying the Flame on
Kirsty's nomination story

I recently organised a charity cycle trip the length of Italy which my husband took part in. The planning took over 6 months & I did nothing in my spare time other than stare at maps, arrange campsites, raise sponsorship, organise raffles & bake sales & contact local businesses to get involved. I gave up my holiday entitlement for the year to run the trip & be the solo support ensuring clothes were washed, food & drink was provided, the online blog was updated, camp was set up & to be the guide to ensure we were on track. We managed to raised over £5500 between the two of us & paid all the costs ourselves so every penny raised was donated to Help for Heroes. The trip was extremly tough both mentally & physically with long days from 5am to 11pm but it was worth it to be able to say we raised enough to enable someone to walk again.
