Kim's nomination story

Electric Eels SC are a family orientated swimming club specifically for the benefit of children with Down's syndrome. They welcome everyone over the age of 8 years old who want to learn to swim, develop their strokes and swim competitively. Kim was one of the first volunteers with Electric Eels and has been huge asset from the very start in 2008. She has completed her level 1 and 2 teaching courses and a lifeguarding course and has shown incredible commitment by independently completing two courses on working with children with learning difficulties to gain insight and adapt her skills to suit the needs of her club. Kim is a great role model popular with all members of the club, she helps organise and participates in the clubs social events which are very important aspect of the club. Her continued commitment earned her recognition in 2010 as the recipient of the Regional Aquaforce award for Outstanding Contribution by an 18 to 25 year old. She has been a fore runner to the clubs success and introduced her boyfriend and mum as volunteers too!
