Kim works hard and goes beyond and above to dramatically improve the lives of individuals in the local community. Kim runs the Portsmouth Area Rape Crisis Centre where she started over fifteen years ago as a volunteer. She supports local individuals who have experienced unimaginable levels of sexual abuse and she enables them to take small steps to achieve things and deal with situations they never thought imaginable. She also ensures that events are held within schools to ensure that the future generation is aware of important issues, are not scared to talk openly about the subject and to show respect for each other and their bodies. She also encourages local individuals to volunteer and put back into the community through organising local events. She works twelve hour days and weekends to ensure that the charity has enough funding to help the community, to manage the volunteers and enable the charity to help even more people. She has used sport and its ability to bring people together to raise awareness of the charity and its issues. She recently held a women's football tournament and also ran the Great South Run complete with purple wigs! She is an inspiration to the community and no matter how demanding it can be to run the charity, her belief in the benefits to the local community prevails. A true inspiration to the community of Portsmouth and individuals as a whole.
