Kevin Shaich is treasure, company director and weekly volunteer for the charity Ravelrig Riding for the Disabled.
The charity provides people with a disability, the opportunity to ride and enjoy all the activities connected with horse riding. Riding for people with a disability is both therapeutic and recreational and RDA is in fact one of the few organisations who offer a multi-diagnostic service, catering for a wide range of disabilities.
Horse riding is a unique form of exercise and rehabilitation. The complex movement of the horse helps to improve co-ordination, balance, muscular development and fitness. Horse riding and horse related activities assist greatly and often dramatically in the development of personal confidence, self esteem, communication skills, leadership and trust.
Kevin spends between 2 hours and 2 days every week volunteering - organising events such as Horse shows, Jumble sales and Car boot sales
Kevin Makes a Difference by giving young disabled people to chance to enjoy horse riding and develop their skills and confidence. With his level of committment, it can change the prospects for a child with a disability and well as changing the lives of their family. CR
