Kevin Kane

Kevin has been competing for GBR for only 6 years but for the past four has been the clear GBR #2 male athlete, combining this with a successful Army career. In any other era the fact that he constantly surpasses the Olympic Qualification Standard means he would have gone to an OWG, but with only one qualifier allowed it is possible he will never achieve his Olympic dream. He remains very much on the "long list" for 2014 and although should be at his physical peak in 2018 it is likely that the "new kids on the block" will have taken his #2 slot by then. He is a sensible and dedicated athlete who deserves to carry the Olympic torch in his native Scotland.
