Kevin has been involved in triathlon for 15 yrs and is one of the founder members of Cerist Triathlon Club. He has been part of the Welsh and Great Britain team for many years competing at three World Championship events - 1999, 2000 & 2002, European championships 2005 and a member of Welsh Squad at the Home Nations 2003 & 2004.His enthusiasm and passion for the sport is infectious and he has undoubtedly contributed enormously to the increase and participation for Triathlon in the area. However, in March 2009 Kevin was involved in a serious cycling accident which very nearly took his life. He was hospitalised for 3 months under going several operations to save his life and repair his smashed pelvis and right hip along with several breaks to his lower right arm. He has overcome the severe pain and trauma of the accident and has managed to battle back into training to finally be categorized by the British Paralympic team to enable him to once again competein the sport he loves. Which finally came to fruition on 15th May 2011 when he won gold at the 2011 Tata Steel British Paratriathlon Championships in Nottingham and being accepted to compete for the British team out in Spain in June of this year. I truly believe Kevin is a well deserving nominee and will carry the Olympic torch with enormous pride.
