Kerry Ann's nomination story

Kerry Ann O'Neill volunteers her time to many worthy charities, including Y&PI (Youth & Philanthropy Initiative) and the Samaritans.

Y&PI is a programme offering young people who may otherwise be disengaged within society the opportunity to work with charities to develop personal enterprise and citizenship skills, together with providing experiences that support them in becoming responsible and effective members of society. Y&PI was launched by the Wood Family Trust in partnership with Bank of Scotland. Each of the groups of students involved had to give a presentation to a panel with the winner being given £3000 towards their nominated charity.

Kerry Ann was a member of the judging panel, and has gone on to personally support one of the charities with fundraising and awareness.

Samaritans offer support, at any time of the day to anyone in the UK and Ireland who is in distress, including those who feel suicidal.

Kerry Ann volunteers each Friday night answering the phones as well as spending one Friday night a month away from home to give support to those in need overnight.

Kerry Ann Makes a Difference by giving her time to support those who are most in need, providing a crucial listening ear for someone who is in a difficult space in their life and just needs to talk.
