Kenneth's nomination story

Whilst many retired men take life slowly, Ken spends whatever time he has coaching, playing and recruiting players for his passion; table tennis. Ken, who has played the Olympic sport for 58 years, now supervises and inspires his growing league of young players at 11 sessions each week, in and outside schools, not to mention any extra competitions he is sure to support his teams at. He has a regular slot in the local newspaper, and keeps the Lancaster TableTennis website up to date with photos and rankings. Megan, who was introduced to the sport at just one of the local primary schools Ken has initiated Table Tennis programs at, is currently being considered for the England U11 team and has reached final stages of national competitions. During his sixteen year coaching career Ken has coached at least 1300 competitive regular players, and no doubt will continue to do so for many years to come. He is underappreciated and taken for granted, so no-one deserves a moment in the spotlight more than him.
