Ken was diagnosed with Retinitis Pigmentosa in 1986, and registered blind in 1990. He helps organisations to be more open and accessible to people with disabilities: assessing web sites, documentation, buildings, policies and processes. Volunteering; - UK Vision Strategy Ambassador for Scotland, Scots rep RNIB UK member`s forum and rep on RNIB strategic board on shopping, travel, money mgt. Vol RNIB speaker to groups about services on offer, and helping reduce barriers to participation by blind and partially sighted .Director and trustee Royal Blind School, Member Scottish Vision Strategy Advisory Group and Scottish Parlt Cross Party Comm on Visual Impairment. Chair East Lothian Access Panel.Vol at Oasis, befriending service in N. Berwick for adults recovering from drug / alcohol addiction. Candidate for Chair RNIB Scotland. Sport: 3 marathons, triathlon, cycling rowing, canoeing. Wants to make a difference to the lives of blind, partially sighted and other disabled people. Ken says: ` I do not suffer from a blinding affliction, as some will say, I am affected by a blinding condition. It is a life sentence, but not a death sentence. I want to live that life to the full.` Ken is as indefatigable as he is inspirational. Cliche yes but if there were more people in the world with Ken`s compassion, drive, courage, joie de vivre and generosity of spirit, the world would indeed be a better place. I can think of no better qualified torch bearer. ;
