Kelly Farley-Thompson

I would like to nominate Kelly as a torchbearer for this area. She has been providing support to the British Armed Forces for many years, both as a Soldier herself and working as part of the General Dynamics United Kingdom Limited team delivering communications capability, and fund raising for both Help For Heroes and Combat Stress. Kelly has pulled together a group of friends and colleagues to raise money for these charities, under the team name `Kelly`s Heroes`. In March 2011 the team entered the Cardiff 10K, and won the team trophy as the fastest team in the event. More importantly, they raised over £1800 for their chosen charities. The task of organising the team, raising money and training for these events is made all the more difficult as Kelly is frequently travelling as part of her job, giving direct support to the British Army. All of this has been done whilst her Husband and Brother have been involved in operations in Afghanistan. She is a modest individual who doesn`t look for the limelight but ensures that her causes and fundraising are very visible.
