Keith's nomination story

Keith Haworth has, for 30 years, been the inspirational running leader at the local running club in Kingston. He is now Chairman, having previously been Captain and also the announcer on club nights letting all know what's going on for the week. He has a loud voice! Not only has he been selflessly given up his time each Thursday night, he also organises two annual running events for the community; Wedding Day 7K and the River Relay. These take a lot of organising and includes working with many different parts of the local community - knocking on doors to get prizes from sponsors, asking for permission to use the land for the event, liaising with police and ambulance teams, sorting out volunteers to marshall the events. The money raised from these events then goes to local charities. He always has time for the runners, new and old timers, young and not so young. Everyone is made to feel welcome when coming to the running club. He used to be a fast runner, sub 6 min miles, but today he just happy to be out running and chatting with a group of runners. He is so approachable and runners come to him to help sort out their problems. Never has he complained or not found the time to talk and get involved. His contribution has made a big impact on the local running community. Acknowledging his unpaid work by being one of the torch relay team would be a great way for all 500+ members to say well done for all he has done.
