Katie's nomination story

Katie is 17 years old, has autism and suffers with Idiopathic Intracranial Hypertension,a rare neurological disorder which causes agonising headaches, vision problems and has a whole host of other horrid symptoms. She also has Petit Mal Epilepsy. Katie is a junior representative of IIH UK,the only UK Chairty dedicated to the support of sufferers of IIH,their family and friends and she helps to organise local support group meetings for sufferers here in the North East.September 2011 Katie's Swim to Win against IIH at Sunderland Aquatic centre hopes to raise £500 for IIH UK. She is such an inspiration to all who meet her.Always smiling through pain, never complaining. To be able to carry the Olympic Flame, even for a short time would have such a positive impact on her life. Please consider her as a flame bearer, from a very hopeful mother.
