Katie Norman

Katie is my best friends daughter. My friend Ann has been through some very hard times & has brought up her 2 children on her own & done an amazing job. Katie is now 12yrs old. She has helped her Mum with a massive smile & has never asked for things because she knows her Mum can't afford it. A few years ago Ann started coaching girls football at Boscombe Albion & Katy started to play for the team. They have been amazing winning everything. Anns dedication to be admired. Last August tragedy struck, Ann's partner Kevin of 3yrs had a Heart attack (52yrs) & sadly died. Kevin & Ann dated 30 yrs previously & lost touch. They found each other 3 years ago & were desperately in Love. Kevin took to the role of Dad in Anns childrens lives quickly & easily. The children absolutely idolised him. He was a very kind, patient & loving man.He spent all his spare time with Ann, Katie & her brother John doing things like walking, cycling, going to the beach & helping them study. Naturally Anns life turned upside down. It was Katie who called me when the police turned up on the doorstep to tell Ann that awful news. It was Katie that held it together & looked after her Mum until I got there. (John too). Ann has carried on coaching Boscombe albion, coaching sometimes with tears streaming down her face. Katie has stepped up & is their top goalscorer. She is also a fantastic middle-distance runner. Sport is her life. I would love to see her (& her Mum if poss) run with the Olympic Torch
