In October Katie was one of the high profile faces of the protest against the cutting of the School Sport Partnership funding. Having spent the previous weeks getting people from a variety of groups both within the school setting and also in local sports clubs to sign the petition she was one of the nationally selected sports ambassadors on the day of protest to deliver this petition to 'No 10'. That day she also appeared on local and national radio and television stations speaking with both clarity and passion. This occured because two years ago I asked Katie to be Sports Ambassador for Blessed William Howard Catholic High School and showing exceptional leadership skills she soon became the Partnership ambassador as well. Katie supports sporting events in school and Partnership, has led TopLink training days and has spoken at a SSCo conference. She is organised, shows initiative and works effortlessly with both peers, younger pupils and staff. She takes part in sport herself and promotes the benefits sport can bring to people. Katie has given a lot to sport in the area and so I feel is well deserving of an opportunity to carry 'The Flame'.
