Katie Barker

We are nominating 16 year old Katie Barker, who is an inspirational person because she is holding together her family of six brothers after her mum passed away suddenly last month, Katie is a London 2012 Adi star and is devoted to sport, playing for Blackpool's women's hockey team, whilst also making a real difference at school by attending Carr Hill High School everyday to help and improve the physical education of other members of the school, even though we have officially left, she has shown us that nothing can stop success as she sat the majority of her exams 3 days after the tragic event, and when other events in our families occurred she was there for us even though she is still mourning the loss of her mother. Katie umpires netball and rounders games through school showing she knows the importance of fair play and respect while helping others to progress while playing fairly. Katie also often takes care of her nephews spending hours on the park with them just because she enjoys watching them have fun. As Katie's three best friends we believe she deserves to be a torch bearer at London 2012 as it would be an amazing experience for her after her recent experiences and after she was upset as she didn't receive any Olympic tickets in the lottery.
