Kathryn O`brien

I'm nominating Kathryn principally for the work she does for a charity called Health Hospital Lourdes Group which provides relief to the sickness of children and young adults arising from their physical, mental, social or emotional circumstances, or those of their families. The charity helps in particular those who are or have been patients at The University Hospital of Wales. As well as fundraising for Health Hospital Lourdes Group, Kathryn escorts the children and young people at events and on trips, including some that involve staying away for days at a time. During the last year she has organised a fantastic Christmas party for the children and jointly organised a fund raising fashion show at a local hotel.

As if Kathryn's work for Health Hospital Lourdes Group wasn't enough she has also been very active in our Charity of the Year activity in Cardiff, helping to arrange and supporting several events and fundraisers for Save the Children.

Finding the time to do what Kathryn does would be challenging for anyone and the fact that she manages it alongside the needs of her family and a demanding job is remarkable. Kathryn has raised over £2,000 for Health Hospital Lourdes Group from activities in our workplace this past year. In addition to this the April 2011 fashion show she co-organised raised over £2,400. Kathryn is on the fundraising committee so she helps at and contributes to lots of other Health Hospital Lourdes Group fundraising events.
