Kate is the epitome of kindness and selflessness. She will do anything for anyone regardless of the inconvenience it may cause her. She has been a constant source of inspiration to the staff and pupils with whom she has worked, in her time as a PE teacher in the Belfast Model School for Girls. She has spent hours after school organising and leading additional sports progams for pupils and local children in the community, as well as many weekends hiking up and down mountains after groups on Duke of Edinburgh expeditions... all without pay. She has influenced hundreds of young people over the years to get involved in sports through her enthusiastic approach, committment and dedication to enhancing the lives everyone around her, regardless of age/gender/religion etc. She geniunely respects and cares about the personal development of young people and works tirelessly to inspire the adults of the future. She has made a huge impact upon the community of North Belfast over the past 30 years through her teaching role and her involvement with community sports programs. She has also volunteered for the past 30years with the Irish Children's Fund, a program designed to unite children from deprived Catholic & Protestant families in North Belfast, and spends every summer chaperoning a number of children throughout a 5 week stay in USA. Kate's sense of humour & passion for life endears her to anyone she encounters and she becomes a friend to all within moments of meeting.
