Katie Walter

In 2009 Katie became the youngest person to walk the last 112 miles the the south pole. To do this she had to raise over £30,000 for the actual expedition and also raised money and awareness the the Lincs and Notts Air Ambulance and Dyslexia Action (she is Dyslexic). Katie has a very motivated young lady and had to give up a lot of the previous two years training and fund raising so when other young people were having fun she was pulling landrover tyres around the country lanes and giving corporate presentations and holding fund raising events. (www.southpole2009.co.uk) She has also taken part in the Breastcancer Moon Walk and Race for Life events. At her school where she is deputy head girl she also organised a fund raising event to help renovate Scotts Hutt in Antarctica. She is studying Maths, Physics and Chemistry at A level, plays the piano (grade 6) Flute (Grade 8) singing (Grade 8), she sings in various school choirs and plays in orchestras and other music groups, she has represented her school in Hockey and is hoping to go to University in September to Study mechanical Engineering. During her summer holidays she also helps on the family farm.... In all she is an extremely busy young lady but always helps and put others before herself.
