Katy has been a St.John's Ambulance Volunteer for several years. She is currently studying very hard for her 'A' levels, in order to go to Bristol University in September but has, nevertheless, found time to spend every Saturday at sports events as a Senior First Aider also qualified in using medical gasses, together with the the regular evening training sessions. I watched her at a women's hockey match very calmly coping with a serious femur fracture with a paramedic , which involved stabilising the patient and controlling the serious pain, and working competantly at the Keswick Fell -Running event where numerous accidents occurred. She worked for several years as a volunteer in the Keswick Oxfam shop. She has her D0fE Silver and bronze awards and hopes to do Gold. She is a highly intelligent girl who is deeply committed to serving the community.'Advanced First Aider', not 'Senior'. The fracture occured at a rugby event, not a hockey event.
