Katie's nomination story

While studying for 6 AS levels Katie still found time to volunteer for 600 hours in one year in the local area through the Step into Sport Programme. She has continued to volunteer for St John`s Ambulance at sporting and other events. She is a a firm but fair Hockey umpire and coach and took her Cadet team to the National title. She plays in both youth and adult hockey teams, leads her Army Cadet Unit and qualified as an adult instructor. She has worked as a carer for adults with complex needs, completed her Gold D.of E, raised money for charity, and has won a place at Medical School. She had a Summer b in the Ardeche as a canoe instructor and give up her time off to care for me and support her younger siblings, when I had an accident, and couldn`t walk. and become ill . She has done everything willingly with a smile. She has achieved all this and is still only 19 years old and everyone from the smallest child to the most profoundly handicapped adult she has helped,knows she would carry the torch with pride for us all.
