Kate Morris

Kate fell in love with running at the tender age of 42, when she completed her first marathon. Caught up in the euphoria of this achievement she decided to share her new addiction with women in the Sheffield area. She started at the school gates, handing out flyers to other mums (and grandmas) who wore anything like training shoes, to invite them to an initial meeting to discuss getting together for a run. This was back in 2008, and today the running group (named the Smiley Paces) boasts over 80 members. Kate is very much the driving force in creating a positive and encouraging atmosphere for any wonem thinking about running in Sheffield, from the absolute beginner who hasn't yet put trainer to tarmac, through to more sporty types who want a bit of company and a chat on a training run.
