I am nominating Kate for the personal sacrifices she has made in the past year and what she has achieved. Kate is a dedicated and loyal
On the 25th of november last year her 9 month old son Charlie was diagnosed with bone cancer, they found a tumor in his leg and the disease had also spread to his chest.Kate was devastated but immediately vowed to beat this disease. Midway through Charlie's treatment Kate and her husband Chris (also a purser ate BA) were informed that the only way to ensure the tumor was completely gone was to amputate the lower half of Charlie's leg. This was hard to cope with when trying to fight the cancer too but Kate remained resolute and positive throughout. In July Charlie had his operation after and after 3 days in intensive care finally came through it.
In september Kate was told that Charlie's scans were all clear.Kate spent most of the last year with charlie in hospital and her positive attitude always seemed to get them through. Kate is positive always and this shows even now as Charlie has already started to walk with his little prosthesis (With much help from Kate).
Kate has always been a loyal BA employee and has overcome many hurdles this year. I believe that her spirit is what the olympic message is all about and she deserves this chance to be an olympic torch bearer.
