Karen's nomination story

When Karen was 4 years old she had a hip problem called Perthes and spend months in plaster and couldn't do all the things a 4 year old child could. She learnt to walk again and was fine. When Karen was 22 and had a good degree and had just secured a very good job (and by this time she had married the man she met when studying)she developed a back problem and spent months on a bed and was finally pensioned off work. She spent months and months in pain and the hospital couldn't find out what was wrong. They then refered her to a pain management clinic, which changed her life. She uses a Tens machine. Next week-end Karen will be running 43 miles in the Highland ultra marathon, she has now run lots of marathons, and trains all the time, roughly every 4 months her back goes and will become very painfull, but she copes with that pain. Everytime I see my daughter running, I feel so very proud and if anyone deserves to run with that torch she does.
